Elegant Glossy Gold Text Effect Photoshop Cs6 Tutorial

This tutorial will show you an easy way to create a luxurious super glossy golden text effect using layer styles, a filter, and a simple brush.

Note: You might need to load the Contours used in the tutorial, so check this image to see how to do so.

Step 1

- Create a new 1000 x 800 px document. Duplicate the Background layer then fill it with the color #452c16.

- Double click the Background copy layer to apply a Pattern Overlay effect by changing the Blend Mode to Multiply, and choosing the “Rice paper” pattern.

- This will add a subtle texture to the background.

- Place the “Damask Texture” image on top of the Background layer, resize it as needed, then change its layer’s Blend Mode to Overlay.

Step 2

- Create the text using the font “False Positive BRK”, the color #b37a37 and the Size 430 pt.

- Duplicate the text layer then change the copy’s Fill value to 0.

Step 3

Double click the original text layer to apply the following Layer Style:

- Bevel and Emboss: Change the Technique to Chisel Soft, the Size to 21, the Gloss Contour to Ring – Double, check the Anti-aliased box, change the Highlight Mode to Linear Dodge (Add), and the Shadow Mode color to #c7b299.

- Contour: Choose the Rolling Slope – Descending contour, and check the Anti-aliased box.

- Inner Shadow: Just change the color to #a9984a.

- Inner Glow: Change the Blend Mode to Overlay, the color to #eadfa2, the Source to Center, and the Size to 60.

- Drop Shadow: Use the default values.

- This will create the first layer of the effect, with the shiny bright parts.

Step 4

Double click the copy text layer to apply the following Layer Style:

- Bevel and Emboss: Change the Size to 21, uncheck the Use Global Light box, change the Angle to 121, the Altitude to 58, check the Anti-aliased box, change the Highlight Mode to Linear Dodge (Add), and the Shadow Mode color to #c7b299.

- Contour: Choose the Half Round contour, and check the Anti-aliased box.

- Satin: Change the color to #995e00, the Distance to 51, and the Contour to Cone – Asymmetrical.

- Drop Shadow: Use the default values.

- This will create the second layer of the effect, which adds the glossy, velvety, effect to the text.

Use this text effect in your gaming web templates.

Step 5

- Ctrl + click a text layer’s thumbnail to create a selection, then, create a new layer between the two text layers and call it “Texture”.

- Set the Foreground color to #ffac19 and the Background color to #432c17. Go to Filter -> Render -> Clouds, then go to Select -> Deselect (Ctrl + D) to get rid of the selection.

- Go to Filter -> (Filter Gallery) -> Sketch -> Halftone Pattern, and change the Size to 1, the Contrast to 5, and the Pattern Type to Dot, then click OK.

- This will create a very simple pattern.

- Change the “Texture” layer’s Blend Mode to Soft Light, and reduce its Opacity to a value you like. Here, it is reduced to 90%. This will add a nice touch to the plain golden effect.

Step 6

- Pick the Brush Tool, then open the Brush panel (Window -> Brush).

Choose the “Star 14 pixels” brush, and modify its settings as shown below:

- Brush Tip Shape:

Step 7

- Right click the text layer and choose Create Work Path.

Create a new layer on top of the original text layer and call it “Sparkles”.

Set the Foreground color to #fff1d8, and pick the Direct Selection Tool.

- Right click the work path and choose Stroke Path. Then, choose Brush from the Tool drop down menu, and make sure that the Simulate Pressure box is un-checked.

- This will add tiny sparkles around the text. Hit Enter to get rid of the path.

- Change the “Sparkle” layer’s Blend Mode to Vivid Light.

- And finally, the text at the top and bottom is created using the font “ETHON“, the font Size is 100, the color is #ffe9e1, the Blend Mode is Soft Light, and then, a default Drop Shadow effect is applied.

And there you have your glamorous shiny gold text effect!

Photoshop cs Learn How to Create Iron Text Effect in Photoshop Tutorial

Iron Text in Photoshop: In this tutorial, you are going to learn how to create my rendition of Iron text in Adobe Photoshop. The end result is this old-looking, strong, armor-ish text that just might give you a vague feeling of having seen it somewhere before. In my case, it seems to remind me of Game of Thrones for no reason. It’s a fairly simple tutorial nevertheless making use of a few textures and a great deal of layer styling.

1. The texture below will serve as background image to our iron text. You can download it from here. Open this texture image in Photoshop.

2. Now using Photoshop’s Text Tool, create your text with the color Black using the character settings shown in the image below. The font I have used for the text can be found here.

3. Once you have created the text, you will then have to remove the empty space between the letters. You can do that by clicking right before each subsequent letter, ensuring that the cursor is now exactly behind the letter, then holding down the ALT key, and then repeatedly pressing down the Left Arrow Key until you see no space between them. Needless to mention, but I shall anyway, that this step is to be performed only for letters between the first and last letters of the text. In my case, “B” and “K”. Please don’t be surprised if it doesn’t work when you have placed your cursor behind “B”, or after “K”.

4. Double click the text layer to open Layer Style and then make the following changes:

5. Now, duplicate the text layer. All of the effects applied to the original text layer will be duplicated along with it.

6. You must now remove all of these effects except for Drop Shadow from the duplicate layer and make the following changes to it:

7. Now change the Fill of the duplicate text layer back to 0%.

8. Once more, duplicate the original text layer and place it on top of all the layers in the Layers Panel.

9. Again, when you duplicated the original layer, the effects applied to it got duplicated along with it. You must now remove all of these effects except for Bevel and Emboss, Contour and Drop Shadow and then make the following changes to them:

10. Duplicate the original text layer one last time and place this one on top of all the other layers in the Layers Panel now.

11. Like before, you must now remove all of the duplicated effects except for Bevel and Emboss andContour and then make the following changes to them:

12. Finally, change the Fill of this layer to 0% and that’s all.

Photoshop Create the Vista Aurora wallpapers in Photoshop

If you’ve ever used Windows Vista which I’m sure most of you have you will at some point have come across the Windows Vista aurora effect wallpapers which the operating system is very well known for. These aurora wallpapers are fantastic to look at and yet they are incredibly simple to create.

Of course the advantage of creating your own HD wallpaperssuch as the one we’re going to create in this Photoshopwallpaper tutorial is that you can create them exactly how you like. Although we do have a fantastic collection of HD wallpapers right here on this site it’s always good to make your own allowing you to personalize it as much as you want to.

So what are we waiting for? Let’s get started with creating a fantastic and beautiful Windows Vista aurora effect HD desktop wallpaper by following this step-by-step Photoshop wallpaper tutorial.

Grab a HD wallpaper

It may be a bit strange but to create this wallpaper we actually first start out with an existing wallpaper. You’ll want to find one which is very colourful and busy with lots of variation. A perfect example of the type to use would be landscape or scenery wallpapers as they always have a lot going on in them. For this example we’re going to use this Summer Sun Rays scenic wallpaper.

Blur it

With our new found wallpaper opened up in Photoshop and resized to the exact size you want we’re going to apply some filters to it. Photoshop filters are a way of making adjustments to the image quickly and easily without worrying too much about what’s going on in the background.

Simply go to Filter > Blur > Gaussian Blur. From here we can blur the image which we’ll do now. Feel free to play around with the radius setting but I went with the number 70 producing the following result. I liked the effect so much I even created a blurred HD wallpaper out of it.

Adjust the colours

Now that we have the blurred base of our wallpaper we’re going to inject some fantastic colours into our wallpapers. Here’s what you need to do for this part.

Go to Layer > New Adjustment Layour > Color Balance. In the little popup that appears just click OK. A little window should have opened up entitled ‘Properties’. This little windows contains three different sliders which lets you adjust the amount of cyan, magenta and yellow in the image. This is where you take control for just a minute – move each of the three sliders around and see what happens. Keep doing this until you see a result you’re happy with.

I went for lots of blue. If you’d like to adjust it some more you can even change the tone from the ‘Tone’ dropdown just above. For each of the tones keep adjusting the three sliders until you’re satisfied.

Adding some style

Now that the base or background is complete we need to actually make this into the aurora effect wallpaper. Using the marquee tool make a selection spanning right across the image so that only a little of the curvature is visible. You should do this so that roughly the top half of the image is selected.

Create a new layer by going to Layer > New > Layour and click OK to the little popup. Using the brush tool with a size setting of about 300 pixels and a hardness value of 0, select white as your foreground colour and brush vertically along the line just inside the selected area.

With this layer still selected, change the blending mode to ‘overlay’. You should see what happens, basically our selection turns into a curved line across the wallpaper. All we really need to do now is position it properly. Using the transform tool simply drag and rotate that line so that it is near vertical through your wallpaper.

Right click on the layer and duplicate it. Rotate it just a tiny bit more or less and move it again. Do this several times until you’ve got the desired effect. And that’s all there is. You’ve successfully created a fantastic looking HD aurora effect wallpaper. This is what mine looks like.

Photoshop Colorful Sparkling Glass Text Effect Tutorial

This is a super easy tutorial that will show you how to use basic Filters and simple Layer styles to create a bright colorful glass text effect.

The Final Result:

Notes:

Note: You might need to load the Contours used in the tutorial, so check this image to see how to do so.

Step 1

- Create a new 1250 x 750 px document, fill the Background with Black, then duplicate the Background layer.

- Set the Foreground and Background colors to Black and White, then go to Filter -> Render -> Fibers. Change the Variance to 20 and the Strength to 5.

- Go to Filter -> Blur -> Motion Blur. Change the Angle to 90 and the Distance to 1000.

- Change the Background copy layer’s Blend Mode to Linear Burn. This will not create any effect for now, but it will once we add the colors later on.

Step 2

- Create the text in white using the font Playball and the font Size 250 pt.

- Change the text layer’s Fill value to 0, then duplicate it.

Step 3

Double click the original text layer to apply the following Layer Style:

– Bevel and Emboss
Style : Outer Bevel
Technique : Chisel Hard
Gloss Contour : Cone – Inverted
Check the Anti-aliased box
Highlight Mode : Linear Light
Shadow Mode – Color : #b5b5b5

– Contour
Contour : Cone – Inverted
Check the Anti-aliased box.

– Stroke
Size : 7
Opacity : 0 %
Color : #ffffff

– Drop Shadow
Color : #474747
Distance : 11
Size : 8

This will create the first layer of the glass effect.

Step 4

Double click the copy text layer to apply the following Layer Style:

– Bevel and Emboss
Size : 13
Gloss Contour : Rolling Slope – Descending
Check the Anti-aliased box

– Contour
Contour : Guassian – Inverse
Check the Anti-aliased box.

– Inner Glow
Blend Mode : Overlay
Noise : 100
Color : #ffffff
Source : Center
Size : 20

The Noise value will add a subtle sparkling effect to the text when the colors are added. You can decrease the value if you want a more clear-looking glass/result.

This will create the second layer of the glass effect.

Step 5

- Pick the Brush Tool, choose a big soft round brush, and set the Size to a value around 450 px. Then, create a new layer between the two Background layers and call it “Color”.

- Next, you’ll need to pick different Foreground colors, then for each one, click once behind the text to add dots of color. Make sure to choose lighter colors as they will create a better effect.

You can increase or decrease the brush size if needed as well.

The colors used in the tutorial are shown below, but you can choose any other colors you like.

And that’s it! Very simple, but bright and fun.
